Discovering inspiration in the most obvious of places

National Gallery

In dire need of some inspiration, I headed down to the National Gallery to do the ‘Be Inspired‘ audio tour. Who would have thunk it, it was inspiring!

Normally with the National Gallery audio tours I duck in and out. I have a year long membership which means all the audio tours are free – so going in and just listening to a few painting talks is a fun distraction. But the Be Inspired tour grabbed my attention with such force that I stayed from beginning to end.

The tour features photographers, painters and chefs talking about the paintings that inspires them. And it was brilliant. Some paintings were a direct inspiration, whereas with others the paintings were just the ghost that they could not get out of their head.

What I loved most of all about this tour was that the speakers were not talking like art critics. They just simply said why they liked it and how it fed into their passion.

You have to go to Notes of Music and Coffee which is right round the corner – coffee and art go hand in hand!
