One of my favourite things in the world is surprise art. I ran into the Long White Cloud cafe partially to get a flat white but mostly to hide from the snow (snow in March, don’t get me started). As per usual they had some very cool art – there were faces coming out of the walls. And from the ceiling. And hanging from the lights.
They were mega creepy (reminded me of the Flesh in Dr Who), but the placement all over the cafe was perfect. A master class in art responding to a space – everywhere you sat there was someone watching.
P.s. the art was part of the Known, Loved and Lost series by Nerida Ackland – go and check it out!
